How to install SimplyPhone 4.0 first party with CallBridge IP

From Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Installation of HiPath SimplyPhone for Outlook/Lotus Notes V4.0 1st party in combination with CallBridge IP is described here.

The focus of this how to is set mainly to the correct CallBridge IP installation and not to the SimplyPhone installation itself, because Simplyhone uses the TAPI Interface of the underlaying CallBridge

For the installation of CallBridge IP it is strongly recommended to read at first the PDF file  CallBridge Readme readme file and the PDF file  CallBridge Collection Installation Manual readme of the CallBridge version which is used.

Note All following examples are referred to optiPoint 420 advanced with firmware version 5.1.32 and Callbride Version 2.0.00.11. The behaviour can be different by using other terminals / firmware or a different CallBridge SW version.

Contents

Preconditions for CallBridge IP installation

  • IP Phone is either one from the optiPoint 410 / 420 family or an optiPoint 600
  • IP Phone uses Cornet TS protocol (not SIP !)
  • IP Phone is configured within the PBX
  • IP Phone operates successful within the customer LAN.
  • CallBridge IP V2.0 SW
  • Administrator rights for the dektop PC on which CallBridge IP has to be installed

Dependencies

Terminal firmware

Behaviour of CallBridge IP depends strongly on the firmware version of the terminal :

Optipoint 410 / 420 / 600 firmware

  • Firmware version >= 5.1.22
    • Port Control settingns "Service Agent" and "CTI" have to be enabled in terminal configuration
  • Firmware Version >= 5.1.31
    • CallBridge IP uses the user password set up of the terminal with at least 6 characters.

OptiPoint 600 office firmware

  • Firmware Version >= 2.1.3
    • CallBridge IP uses the user password set up of the terminal with at least 6 characters.

LAN topologie

Within a segmented LAN it has to be enshured that the desktop PC with CallBridge IP is able to address the terminal therefore routers etc have to be setup accordingly.

A simple test can be done by pinging the IP address of the terminal(assumed UDP and ping is not blocked by a firewall)

Firewall settings

If a firewall is used desktop PC and terminal it has to be enshured that the following ports are enabled for Callbride IP communication.

  • port 1284 (desktop PC -> terminal)
  • port 5140 (terminal -> desktop PC)

This applies also for firewalls located on the desktop PC itself like built-in Windows firewall.

Retrieve informations and settings

For the configuration of CallBridge IP following informations / settings are needed:

  • IP address of the terminal
  • Phone number
  • Subscriber password (depending on firmware version)
  • Firmware version of the terminal
  • MAC address of the terminal (optional)

Informations above can be retrieved either direct from the terminal or via the web administration.

The following necessary settings can only be accessed by the web administration

  • User password (depending on firmware version)
  • Port control

Direct terminal administration

To get the information direct from the terminal the administration level has to be evoked by pressing the keys "0" "1" "3" simultaneously. Afterwards the administrator password has to be entered. More informations can be found here.

Web based terminal administration

To get the information via a PC and web browser the IP address of the terminal has to be known. Enter https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of th terminal) within the browser will open the terminal Home Page. Within the terminal the Web access has to be enabled before. If a proxy for internet access is uses it has to be switched off before within the browser

For more, detailled information see here.

Retrieve IP address of the terminal

  • Enter administration level of the terminal
    • System
    • Network

Note: DHCP should not be used for the terminal or it has to be enshured that the terminal will get always the same IP address by the the DHCP Server.

Retrieve the phone number of the terminal

  • Enter administration level of the terminal
  • Login as administrator
    • Sytem
    • System Subscriber Number

Retrieve the phone number of the terminal

  • Enter administration level of the terminal
  • Login as administrator
    • Sytem
    • System Subscriber password

Retrieve the current firmware version of the terminal

  • Enter administration level of the terminal
  • Login as administrator
    • General info
    • Applic Version

Retrieve MAC address of the terminal

The MAC address is printed without "-" or ":" characters as 12 digit serial number at the rear side of the terminal (see Example).

Alternativly it can be access by the administration interface

  • Enter administration level of the terminal
  • Login as administrator
    • General info
    • MAC address

Retrieve the user password of the terminal

The user password can only be retrieve via the WEB based adminisration.

picture

  • Open terminal homepage
  • Login as user
  • change user password
    • enter new password and note down for further use

Set the port control of the terminal

The port control can only be set via the WEB based adminitration.

  • Open terminal homepage
  • Login as administrator
  • System
  • port control
    • Enable Service agent
    • Enable CTI

Administrate CallBridge IP

The general installation is described within the CallBridge installation user Guide This section points out some sticking points within the admonitration which are essential for Call bride IP function.

Terminal addres data - Find IP

If optiPoint 410/420/600 and desktop PC are separated by a router or different VLANs, the button "Find IP" doesn't work. CallBridge IP will work nevertheless, if following configuration is used in "Phone Discovery":

  • enter phone number of the terminal manually
  • enter the IP address of the terminal manually
  • enter MAC addres of the terminal manually
  • select IP addres with the radio button
  • enter subscriber password or user password depending on the firmware of the terminal.

Make shure that communication between desktop PC and terminal is not blocked by LAN configuration (firewall, router etc.)

Test

For testing the CallBridge IP installation the Built-in Windows Dialer application can be used.

Microsoft Windows Dialer application

Following example refers to the Windows XP dialer application

Open the dialer application by selction "run" in the program menu.

  • Run
    • dialer

If program is executed:

  • edit
    • options
      • lines
      • phone
      • phonecalls --> select the CallBridge IP line
  • save and close options dialog (OK)
  • dial
    • enter valid phone number
    • phone call
    • place call

The terminal device should now dial the selected phone number. If so, the CallBridge IP installation has been successfully installed and can also be uses by other TAPI based application.

Trouble shooting

If not the number is not dialled the installation has to be checked. Unfortunately Windows Dialer does not provide very useful hints for trouble shooting.

Following parameters should be checked:

  • Physical connection between desktop PC / terminal and LAN
  • Can the desktop PC addres the terminal within the LAN (ping) (remind - no DHCP for the terminal)
  • Check PBX type and version within callbride IP administration
  • Check device type and version within CallBridge administration
  • Check address settings (Phone No, IP address, MAC address) within CallBridge administration for typos
  • Check user (subscriber password) within terminal and Callbridge administration

If the problems cannot be resolved, check the TAPI installation by means of appropriate diagnostic tools
